About Me

Hi, I’m Sara — a former acupuncturist, civil servant, and now, your behind-the-scenes guide to building a sustainable solo practice.

If you’re a hands-on health practitioner who loves helping people but struggles with the business side of running a clinic… you’re in the right place.

I created The Accidental Healthcare Business Owner to help you simplify the admin, demystify the marketing, and protect your energy — without burning out or losing sight of why you got into this work in the first place.

From Audit to Acupuncture

After retraining at age 50 and earning a BSc (Hons) in Acupuncture, I ran my own clinic for five years. I chose to work part-time and flexibly, not because I wasn’t serious about my business, but because sustainability mattered more to me than hustle. What’s the point in earning money in order to spend more quality time with family and friends if you can bake that in sooner.

I know what it’s like to feel more confident with a needle than a newsletter. And I know how overwhelming it can be to figure out booking systems, compliance, pricing, or even how to describe what you do in a way that feels genuine.

But I also brought something unexpected to the table.

Before acupuncture, I worked for many years in the UK Civil Service as a senior manager in audit and risk management, with earlier roles in data protection and information security. I also hold a BA (Hons) in Business Studies — and those skills helped me run a calm, compliant, and connected clinic without scrambling.

Now I Help Practitioners Like You

My goal is simple:
To save you time and energy by sharing systems and insights that are well-researched, ethical, and tailored to solo healthcare practices.

This blog isn’t about chasing 6-figure dreams or becoming a marketing guru overnight.

It’s about giving thoughtful, client-focused practitioners the business foundations they need — so they can do more of the work they love.

Let’s Build a Practice That Works for You

Your About page doesn’t need to be the final word, and neither does your business plan.

You’re allowed to evolve. You’re allowed to go at your own pace. You’re allowed to focus on what matters most — your clients, your time, your energy.

And I’m here to help with that.

(This is a new site, so there’s nothing to click just yet. But stick around — I’ll be adding more resources soon.)
